Extractions

When a tooth cannot be saved, we remove it carefully and help you heal comfortably.

Dr. Moon smiling with a patient

We always look for ways to keep your natural teeth. Sometimes, though, a tooth is too damaged, infected or crowded to save, and removing it is the healthiest choice.

Dr. Moon explains why an extraction is recommended, what replacement options exist, and exactly how to care for the area as it heals.

What to expect

  • Thorough numbing before we begin
  • Gentle removal of the tooth
  • Clear written aftercare steps
  • A discussion of replacement options

Every smile is different. Dr. Moon will recommend what is right for you after an exam.

Common questions about extractions

We always prefer to save a tooth when we can. When removal is the best choice, we make it as gentle as possible.

When is a tooth removed?
A tooth may need to come out because of severe decay, infection, advanced gum disease, damage that cannot be repaired or crowding. Dr. Moon will go over your options first.
Will I be comfortable?
The area is numbed before we begin, and we explain each step so there are no surprises. You may feel pressure but should not feel sharp pain.
What comes after an extraction?
We will give you clear aftercare instructions, and our Patient Resources section has a guide you can review at home. If you are missing a tooth, we can also talk about replacement options.
