Fillings and Crowns

Strong, natural-looking restorations that repair damaged teeth and protect them for years.

Sterile dental instruments laid out and ready

A filling repairs a tooth after decay is removed. When a tooth has a large cavity, a crack or an older filling that is failing, a crown covers the whole tooth to restore its strength, shape and appearance.

Dr. Moon walks you through the choices, including materials and cost, so you can decide what fits your goals and budget.

What to expect

Common questions about fillings and crowns

Restoring a damaged tooth helps you chew comfortably and protects the tooth you have left.

How do I know whether I need a filling or a crown?
A small area of decay is usually treated with a filling. A tooth that is badly worn, cracked or heavily restored may need a crown for added strength. Dr. Moon will explain the reasons for her recommendation.
Is the treatment comfortable?
We numb the area before we begin, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Let us know at any point if you need a break.
How long will a restoration last?
That varies with the material, the tooth and how well it is cared for. Good brushing, cleaning between teeth and regular checkups help restorations last as long as possible.
